You are the customer, not the product. Postel is free to use today — no timer, no locked features, no card to enter. When licensing arrives, one flat price keeps it that way: no tiers, no per-seat arithmetic, no features held hostage.

It will be announced here and in the app, and everyone on the mailing list hears first.

Why not free?

Free mail apps are paid for somehow — usually with your data. A paid license means our only revenue is you, so our only incentive is you.

Why not a lifetime deal?

Gmail changes, macOS changes, and Postel has to keep up forever. A subscription is the honest shape of that work.

What if I leave?

Your mail was never ours to hold — it lives in Gmail and on your Mac. If a subscription ends, Postel keeps your mail readable and searchable; compose and send pause until you return.

Which accounts does Postel support?

Gmail and Google Workspace accounts — Postel is a Gmail client, built deliberately for one provider so it can do the job properly. It connects with your Google sign-in; no passwords are stored.

How is this private if it connects to Gmail?

Postel talks directly to Gmail over TLS, the same as any mail client. The difference is what happens after: nothing is copied to our servers, scanned, or reported back. Google’s own policies still apply to mail they host.

Where does the name come from?

Jon Postel edited the RFCs and ran the Internet’s numbers for three decades, quietly and well. His robustness principle — conservative in what you send, liberal in what you accept — is how we think mail software should behave.
